Zoo Negara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Panda Got A New Address - Zoo Negara!

Zoo Negara Malaysia or the National Zoo of Malaysia is located around 10 Mins drive from the Wangsa Maju LRT station. It is one of the best places to hang out with your children. The Zoo negara is also famously known as Kuala Lumpur Zoo

Zebra At Zoo Negara

I wont be exaggerating if I say it's one of the best zoo I have visited till date. I might have felt so positive about this place because it was the first time we ever saw a Panda :) However they charged RM 30 for the Panda ticket but it was worth it!

At the third b'day of our daughter we thought of giving her an experience as gift instead of some kind of toy. And what could be better than showing her the live characters of her English Alphabet book.

Based on our experience with Delhi Zoo, we kept our expectation very low. Our expectation hit a new low after reading the Zoo Negara reviews on trip adviser. At the end we decided against most of the reviews and paid a visit to Zoo Negara. To our surprise, it turned out to be a very good place to visit. Frankly speaking we were very impressed with the number of animals and exhibits in the zoo.

All animals looked healthy to me. The zoo was pretty clean. The visitor facilities had nothing to complain about. The direction signs and in house zoo negara map were pretty much straight forward and correct as well.

For those who wish not to walk around in the zoo, there is a transportation service inside. Although you will be charged 5 RM for using it. Well for us, we didn't take any of the in-zoo transportation. We preferred to walk and the boy we walked!

Although my daughter seemed to be scared more rather than really enjoying the surrounding initially but she got used to it in a short while. Once she got used to the scene, she started to identify the animals with their name. At the end of the day she really enjoyed her single penny in the zoo.

In fact she started to guide us from which animal we should be scared of and which one is OK to see from a closer distance :). I guess the place served our purpose of showing these animals to our little angel to perfection.

How to go to Zoo Negara

You can catch the Ampang Line LRT to the Wangsa Maju LRT station and from there catch bus number U34. The bus ride is hardly of 10 mins and will drop you just in front the main gate of zoo. The bus ticket will cost you only 1 RM. Or you can alternative catch a taxi to Zoo Negara as well, from LRT station Wangsa Maju it should not cost more than 10 RM.

At the end, I would suggest that you should definitely visit the place with your young ones. If you don't mind spending some extra cash, another suggestion will be to visit the Panda as well. As there will always be some place to improve the things but in current shape the Zoo Negara is worth a visit!

Zoo Negara opening hours: 9 AM to 5 PM

Happy travelling...
